Captain
Sim 757-200 Base Package
Introduction (Aircraft Tested On
FSX)
Well what can
I say, WOW! Every aspect of the aircraft is amazing, from the virtual cockpit
to the texture of the exterior model. Personally myself, I do not purchase
many payware aircraft but this is worth its money and I would definitely
recomend it. One problem I have seen mentioned around forums is that it
knocks a few frame rates off using this aircraft, BUT; I don't recognize that
on my computer.
The
Model
The exterior
model is a well developed and realistic model with two types, these including
the Boeing 757-200 Pratt & Whitney engines and the Boeing 757-200 Rolls
Royce engines. There are approximately one hundred animations included with
this aircraft on the exterior only! Those animations include things such as
the RAT prop that drops next to the gear, the engine covers, 'Remove Before
Flight' covers flapping in the wind and many more. There are 37 textures
included ranging from several British Airways to Jet2 to the Royal Navy. The
textures have several layers, these include the aircraft details (i.e. doors,
windows), the wear and tear (to make the plane look used). With all of the
several layers put together and the realistic model makes one amazing aircraft.

The
Sounds
The Captain
Sim 757 Family comes with their custom sounds which are excellent compared to
anything I have heard so far! I have always liked downloading aircraft to see
the custom panel (If it has one) and to hear the custom sounds (If it has
them), but disappointingly the aircraft hardly ever have them so it is a nice
addition to the software that instead of just shoving on the default B738,
B744 or A321.
The
Panel
Well, like I
said in 'The Sound', I like an aircraft with a custom panel, and you can't
get much more than this! This panel includes numerous secondary panels
including a full screen overhead panel, with hundreds of pushable buttons, a
full FMC and many more custom popups. Another excellent feature of this panel
is the Autoland. I have only ever seen one aircraft on FS with autoland and
that was another payware 757. The panel bitmap is a very detailed
photorealistic bitmap (That I have never seen before) used to add to the
realism and home the gauges professionaly.
The
Virtual Cockpit
The Virtual
Cockpit is a well developed area expanding all the way down through the
passenger cabin and into the toilets. The virtual cockpit includes final
touches to finish off the completely realistic look to it, these are: a few
books in acase that move according to attitude and G-force, a pilot's jacket
hung up that swings according to attitude and G-force aswell, just under one
thousand clickable switches and tons more! The other places in the virtual
cockpit include the doorways, the toilets and most of the passenger cabin, to
access these area you can either go there using the view menu or using
different key combinations with the 'ctrl', 'shift', 'enter' and backspace.
This picture
below shows the possible areas to visit in the VC. (This picture may look
stupid but once inside, with a roof over your head, the realism really sets
in!)
The cockpit
is not the only place with many animations, animations included in the
passenger cabing include things such as the safety video being played, the
food trolleys able to pull out, the window covers able to slide down and a
few more.

Freighter Expansion
The freighter
expansion pack only includes two liveries... but are they excellent! The two
liveries included are the UPS (United Parcel Service, the VA I am a member of www.upsvac.com) and the DHL (Dalsey Hillblom Lynn) The special feature that
comes with this expansion is the cargo loading tool, this tool alows you
to visually load cargo onto the main deck and lower deck controlling it with
the popup managers. These include the moving in and out of the vehicle, the
rasing and lowering of the load vehicle, the inserting and unloading of cargo
and the animated cargo pods on the manager.
757-300 Variant Expansion Again, a very well detailed model with all the animations from the existing base package. All you need is included to fly your realistic flight as you like in the extended body length of the 300 variant. All panels, virtual cockpit etc are kept the same on the expansion but why would you want any different? There are around 10 new liveries used in the two models (Rolls Royce model and Pratt & Whitney model) ranging from Condor to Continental. Still as usual is the FMC included which most flight sim pilots want these days in payware aircraft.

Aircraft Configuration Utility
The aircraft
configuration utility is a seperate program for sell from Captain Sim. This
program alows you to obviously configure your aircraft, in detail it allows
you to select the aircraft you want to configure using the aircraft type (75F
752 RR PW) and then selecting the livery of that type. You then move on to
say whether your aircraft has wing views, winglets, virtual cockpit and
virtual cabin. The next page, 'Preflight' allows you to load up your aircraft
with the default payload you will have whenever you fly that aircraft. It
alos allows you to create your own. The pictures below explain it all.
